Description
Summary:The aim of carrying this research is to determine the level of empathic tendencies of teachers working in different educational institutions, according to demographic characteristics. 71 women and 41 men, a total of 112 teachers have participated to this research, whom are working in different educational institutions. The Empathic Tendency Scale developed by Dökmen (1988) was used in the determination of empathic tendencies level of the participants. In the analysis of the data collected in the research, One Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, independent t test, One Way ANOVA test and frequency analysis methods of the SPSS 15.0 for Windows programme were used. At the end of the research, the dominance of the empathic tendency level of the female teachers toward the male teachers and the married teachers toward the single teachers have been determined. But this difference of the level of empathic tendencies of the participant teachers according to their gender or marital status wasn't statistically meaningful (p>0.05). Meanwhile the difference of the level of empathic tendencies of the participant teachers according to the educational intitutions they are working or their priority wasn't meaningful either (p>0.05).
