Summary: | Comparative education is quite a significant research area in terms of having countries observe their own education systems and many aspects existing in these systems from a different perspective, thus, to identify their adequacy and inadequacy and to determine what they can do on that point. Moreover, in the 21st century we are involved, together with fast progression in science and technology, making comparative researches and utilizing properly from results of these researches became a necessity. This necessity naturally is not a necessity in the form of directly model receiving or to reproduce. It is the most correct way to utilize properly from results occurred by performing comparative researches and by taking into consideration its own educational mentality, conditions. In fact, the objective of this research is to compare Language Teaching Curriculum (2006) which is applied in Ontario State of Canada and 1-5th Grades (2009) and 6-8th Grades (2006) Turkish Lesson Instruction Curriculum, in Turkey, under various headings, such as "basic principles/general purposes", "roles and responsibilities of the student and factors other than the student/responsibility of the teacher", learning phases/learning areas", "expectations/acquirements", "planning/guide sections", "general approach and properties" and "measuring and evaluation". In the research, among relational screening models, screening model based on comparing is used. Language Teaching Curriculum of Ontario State, Canada (2006) and 1-5th Grades (2009) and 6-8th Grades (2006) Turkish Lesson Instruction Curriculum, in Turkey, constitute the population of the research. In the research, no sample is taken due to examining of all mother tongue curriculum used currently, a study is performed on the curriculum that constitutes the population. Data of the research is received in accordance with document analysis technique and are presented as relational. In consequence, similar and different viewpoints of Language Teaching Curriculum of Ontario State, Canada (2006) and 1-5th Grades (2009) and 6-8th Grades (2006) Turkish Lesson Instruction Curriculum, in Turkey, are set forth, evaluated and points to be utilized in terms of mother tongue curriculum in Turkey are being remarked. |
