Summary: | This article summarizes five seasons of excavation at the Athenian Agora by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. As in recent years, the focus has been the northwest corner of the Agora square, around and over the large Classical building we identify as the Stoa Poikile, with supplementary work in previously excavated sections. Material ranges in date from the 6th centuryb.c. until the Ottoman period. This is a preliminary account of recent work, much of which is still in progress. |
