Summary:The authors explored the effect of child‐centered play therapy on the social competence, empathy, and self‐regulation of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This study used a single‐case design with 5 children ranging from 6 to 8 years old. Visual analysis of the data indicated that play therapy was beneficial for 3 participants, whereas results for 2 participants were mixed. Discussion includes implications for clinical practice and future research.
