Summary: | Throughout history people have always been physically active, from the hunter-gatherer man, to active farming and until the Industrial Revolution of the last century feature. Transformations and unprecedented progress, taken by human society in the last century have led to significant changes in the lifestyle of people. Physical activity of people was reduced gradually due to increased comfort, especially in the civilized world, which gave way to the emergence of sedentariness, considered today as a true disease of human civilization. Easing working conditions, the emergence of sedentary occupations, mechanization, development of public transport and other factors, favors the adoption of a sedentary behavior, which along with changing the diet, have unfavorable consequences, occasionally serious, to human health. Healthcare is currently facing new challenges in view of the high prevalence of acquired disorders such as obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis etc, therefore recovery professionals need to acquire specific knowledge and skills to deal effectively with these conditions. There is, therefore, an obligation of recovery professionals to use every opportunity to recommend physical exercise when treating persons with chronic diseases or risk factors for the development of such pathologies. Physical activity has many health benefits, contributes to the maintenance and improvement of health, but also to regain her in pathological cases. It is therefore the time for humanity to focus its interest toward an active life, for sport and physical activity practice on a regular basis to help improve the health of the population. |
