Summary:Over the past 13 years, survival to discharge from pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) has markedly improved. Conversely, survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest has not improved as dramatically over the past 5 years. The American Heart Association (AHA) Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Committee uses a rigorous process to review and analyze the peer-reviewed published scientific evidence supporting the AHA Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and ECC, including this update.
