Summary:In this research, the level of hopelessnessand empathic tendency of class teachers candidates are investigated accordance with some psycho-social variants. The research was patterned with survey model. "Individual Status Form" developed by researchers, "Beck Hopelessness Scale", generated by Beck and friends (1974), and "Empathic Tendency Scale" made by Dökmen (1988) were used as data collection instruments. The sample of the research is consisted of 291 class prospective teachers who are 2010-2011 education year Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Faculty of Education, Class Teaching Department 3. and 4. grade students. According to the results, the differences between the levels of hopelessness and genders, and future anticipations are meaningful. Also, it was found that the differences between empathic tendencies and genders of the prospective teachers, grades and future anticipations are meaningful. No other meaningful differences were detected on both dependent variants in accordance with other psycho-social variants. Besides, a meaningful, negative relation of medium degree was found between the candidate teachers' empathic tendencies and hopelessness levels.
