Description
Summary:This paper deals with the correlation between multilateral trade rules and environmental protection needs. The aim of this paper is to analyze WTO's approach to dealing with situations when multilateral trade rules collide with its member states' environmental policies. The WTO's Committee on Trade and Environment and the WTO's Appellate Body in some of its landmark decisions analyzed in this paper contribute significantly to clarifying the space WTO members have in applying their trade-restrictive and potentially WTO-inconsistent environmental policies.
