Summary: | The article presents selected children's literature (mostly belletristic) texts published in periodicals from Prekmurje. Texts that were published in Dusevni liszt, Evangelicanski kalendari, Marijin list (and Marijikin ogracek), Kalendar srca Jezusovega and in Novine are being discussed. In the times when Hungarian was still the official language in Prekmurje, the periodical published in the Prekmurje dialect (or partially also in standard Slovene) played an important cultural role in preserving the national consciousness and belonging, as well as in literacy and cultural heritage preservation, regardless of their diverse editorial politics and language choice. |
