Summary: | In wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes are densely deployed in sensing area, which increases redundant data packet transmission and results to lots of energy consumption. To save network energy, nodes schedule is applied to set the redundant nodes to sleep state while the non-redundant nodes remain active state. This paper proposes an Energy Saving Sleep Scheduling algorithm (EPSS). First, unequal clustering is executed for the entire wireless sensor networks, and Cluster Head(CH) are selected by considering node residual energy and the distance between nodes. Then, cluster head implenments sleeping schedule in cluster. The sleeping probability of each node is decided by the node density in its own cluster and the distance between node and CH. The simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm can reduce energy consumption and prolong the lifecycle of network. |
