Description
Summary:The sport events are usually organized by expecting an impact on the city that hosts it. The aims of this study were i) to analyse the residents ' perceptions of the impacts of the sport events held at the Madrid Magic Box, and ii) to analyse whether those perceptions vary by gender or by age. One hundred and ninety-four residents answered the Ano et al. (2010) validated questionnaire. The statements that were the most highly rated were 'The infrastructures built for the TMS are valuable for the citizens' and 'useful for other activities ' (3.7±1.2 for both), as well as the 'The TMS bring economic benefits to the city of Madrid ' (3.5±1.2). Fostering a new facility with a mega sport event in a low-income neighbourhood does not guarantee that the facility will be profitable in the future. The offered sport services should match the needs of their main client: the neighbourhood residents. [web URL: http://www.transformations.khf.vu.lt/35b/article/them]
