Summary:Central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI) are a common complication of indwelling central venous lines (CVL) and cause significant morbidity, mortality, and increased costs. Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) patients often require prolonged central line placement for therapy, and are often at risk for line infection due to nutritional status, poor skin integrity, immunocompromise, or frequent colonization with resistant pathogens. Here we describe a successful intervention to reduce CLABSI in this challenging population.
