Summary: | Modern societies are more and more defined by activities connected to quotidian. Thus, sports tends to occupy a very important place in current human activities. Society is characterized by sport consumerism, both through its practice and through adjacent activities: attending sports arenas, reading sports literature and even consuming sports as spectator. The approach of practicing sports for leisure has changed and for most people it become a profession. In today's society, sports activity produces a number of effects. Among the most important, we identify the effect of socialization. As a result, government policies should be oriented to ensure sport as: a school discipline, as leisure activity and as professional development. Socialization represents the activity by which we appropriate skills, attitudes, values and behaviors that legitimizes us as active members of society. Sport is often regarded as a framework that contributes to interpersonal socialization process, being considered as a highly complex phenomenon due to national diversities of any type. Thus, it`s being crystallized the need of developing country-specific policies. Research on the social impact of sports activity focused on socialization within sports, but also on the social effects of sports. It is to be observed the positive influence of sports on health and personality of those who practice it, but also the contribution to socialization through movement and its influence on personality development. Also, sports initiates and develops social contacts that help develop human personality and moral values. These led to the concept of fair-play, which came to govern the entire social life. Sport is an environment for socialization for a wide range of social actors. Thus, it addresses to all categories, independently of age or gender, and also to groups with special needs. Being a highly popular activity, sports offers a number of pleasant experiences: passion, feelings, taste of success, all of these making it an important medium of socialization, promoting contacts and social relations. The most important factors are social cooperation between individuals, spontaneous individual activities and also freedom to choose and to decide. |
