Summary:The "crónica" has become a reference in narrative journalism in Spanish. This article analyzes the main reasons why "chronicles" has become the favorite genre for so many "chroniclers", which it is rising in recent years. These reasons are explained by several characteristics. Its origins as a genre of literature and history before they become at journalism genre. Freedom and subjectivity of the journalist in the exercise of their work. Different meanings have the term "chronic" in Spain and Latin America, difficulty to be classified by the theory of journalistic genres or confusion with the reportage.
