Summary:This research aimed to design a framework for the assessment of tourism destinations sustainable development for Cuba. The research methods employed were the analysis and synthesis of literature as well as induction and deduction. In addition, it was carried out a comparative analysis of the methodologies used in precedent international and Cuban studies on the subject. The results from the comparative analysis were the input for applying the Delphi method. This permitted to identify best practices in this topic, which were associated with the evaluation of the sustainability of tourism destinations' development from a perspective that contains the principle of equilibrium that should exist among the socio-cultural, economic and environmental dimensions. In addition, it should be taken into account the evolution in time of the parameters that define the satisfaction of stakeholder's needs nowadays and in the future. Best practices, and the particularities identified in the Cuban case, constituted the basis to propose a framework for the assessment of the sustainability of Cuban tourism destinations' development.
