Summary:The American Library Association (ALA) has chosen Jose Manuel Gallegos of Oaklawn IL, as the 2016 Tom and Roberta Drewes Scholarship recipient. The $3,000 scholarship is awarded to a library support staff worker who is pursuing a master's degree in library and information science. Currently, Gallegos works as a librarian assistant at the Oak Lawn Public Library (IL). He believes that a library is the nexus between a collection of knowledge and a community safe haven that breathes life into people's ideas and questions. He sees himself as a bridge to information and technology for the patrons he serves.
