Description
Summary:Do musical tastes or at least an important part of musical tastes of young adults come from what they listened with their parents during "their happy days"? Do these young adults also influence their parent's musical tastes? To be more comprehensive, what about intergenerational transfers as far as tangible elements (listening devices, audio material) and intangible elements (musical style, bands, composers, singers or even instruments) are concerned? The goal of this research is to find out the musical elements passed on from parents to children and vice versa as well as the processes underlying these transfers. Results of a qualitative study implemented with 18 dyads parent-child are detailed in this paper. Theoretical and managerial implications - in terms of strategic segmentations and concrete presentation of market offers - and, finally, research avenues are outlined.
