Summary: | The Bologna process embodies a new model of university education that is bringing changes to the Spanish university system. The adoption of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) framework calls for adjustments involving education authorities, governance bodies, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and the community and overall society. Challenges raised by that model include the move from a culture of individualism, professional isolation and competition to one of sharing and working together. This paper aims to highlight, on the one hand, the importance of coordination as one of the key elements around which the new degrees should revolve for the purpose of functioning in line with the Bologna guidelines. on the other hand, it seeks to analyse the current situation in Spanish universities. |
