Summary: | The 1990s marked the move of law and governance to the center of the development agenda. This has given law and development scholarship a second life, bringing much needed resources, attracting the attention and the interest of young and talented scholars, and fostering a series of new initiatives, such as this journal. Law and development is now independent from the donor community, being firmly grounded on universities; it is more refined, and thus better able to capture the complexities and nuances of the development enterprise, thanks to an increase uptake on inter-disciplinary research, especially among legal scholars; and it is more plural and diverse, given than a great deal of this research is now being produced in universities in the Global South and by scholars from developing counties based in the Global North. |
