Summary:The article, the content of which was the subject for debate at the conference The Order camaldolese from the Middle Ages up to the present in the sources of the Italian State Archives (Accademia nazionale dei Lincei, Rome, May 30th, 2014), aims at illustrating the documents, preserved at the State Archive in Rome, concerning the Camaldolese Congregation. Tracing the history of each document, it was often possible to identify its origin (i.e. General Prosecutor of St. Romuald, Monastery of San Michele of Murano). Furthermore, through the analysis of several still existing letters, it was possible to identify religious persons and little-known events, such as the correspondence about the joining of the Camaldolesi with the Verginiani, or the story of Wilhelmina Style Robinson.
