Summary:The Kyrgyz people are one of the oldest branches of the Turkic nations. The Kyrgyz people live in Kyrgyz Republic today. The Hazaras, who make up nine percent of Afghanistan population, mainly live in the Hazaristan (Hazarajat) region, Ghazna, Kabul and Northern Afghanistan, and majority of their population is Shia(Jafari). The Hazaras consider themselves as Turkish and Mongolian. Newroz, which means 'new day' and shows the beginning of the new year according to the calendar used in Persia and Afghanistan, is also considered as the beginning of the spring. Newroz festival and celebrations have an important role for the Kyrgyzs and Hazaras. In this study, we aimed to provide general information on the Kyrgyzs and Hazaras and investigate the detailed information about the Newroz manners and customs of the Kyrgyzs and Hazaras living in Hazaristan.
