A new look at NaBrF4: the most BrF3-rich tetrafluoridobromate(III) by mass

Summary:Sodium tetrafluoridobromate(III) was synthesized and characterized. The compound crystallizes isotypic to potassium and rubidium tetrafluoridobromate(III) in the tetragonal space group type I 4/ mcm with a  = 5.7239(8) Å, c  = 10.331(2) Å, V  = 338.47(12) Å 3 , and Z  = 4 at T  = 110 K. Also, the compound was investigated by means of powder X-ray diffraction, IR and Raman spectroscopy, and theoretical calculations. Graphical abstract
