Description
Summary:In this work, the analytical expression for the kurtosis parameter of truncated and non-truncated simplified general-type beams is derived based on the second and fourth-orders moments formalism. It should be pointed out that our obtained results straightforwardly provide a convenient way to study the kurtosis parameter for several laser beams such as Gaussian, cos-Gaussian, cosh-Gaussian, sine-Gaussian, sinh-Gaussian, flat-topped, Hermite-cosh-Gaussian, Hermite-sine-Gaussian, higher-order annular Gaussian, Hermite-sinh-Gaussian and Hermite-cos-Gaussian beams. On the other hand, previous works are induced as special cases from our theoretical results, which constitute a more generalized study of the kurtosis factor of truncated and non-truncated laser beams. Our analytical expressions show that the kurtosis factor depends on the beam parameters.
