Summary:"Lingua receptiva" is a skill which allows people to communicate beyond the linguistic boundaries of their own language. Through the New Skills for New Jobs initiative, the European Commission wants to promote better anticipation of future skills needs, develop better matching between skills and labour market needs and bridge the gap between the worlds of education and work. Here, then Thije et al discuss the use of lingua receptiva which can contribute significantly towards achieving these goals.
