Summary:The aim of this study is to make a systemic analysis of the construction sector for the major world economies in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), i.e., Germany, Canada, USA, France, UK, Italy, Japan, Brazil, China, India and Russia. We use input-output matrices from the World Input-Output Database (WIOD) for the period of 1995-2009. This study allows us to observe the behavior of the sector through sectorial contribution to the formation of the product and income, industry integration of the economies under study and sectorial relation with the stage of development of each country. We can highlight from this study about the construction sector, considered proxy for economic growth, that it is, on average, even more integrated in the developed economies than in developing economies.
