Description
Summary:Steel may be produced in an arc furnace from reduced iron-ore pellets that are supplied to the melt through hollow electrodes. Thermoelectric aspects of this process are considered. A method of charging the pellets in accordance with the thermal conditions in the furnace is proposed. The new method of pellet charging intensifies batch melting and reduces metal losses and dust emissions from the furnace.
