Summary:Owing to the geographic disadvantages ofmountain villages, the social, cultural, and economicconditions of mountain villagers are inferior to thoseof urban dwellers in South Korea. Thus, in 1995, theThe government of South Korea launched a mountainvillage development support program to promoteagriculture and forestry, balance national landdevelopment, and preserve cultural heritage. Theprogram was effectively implemented, improving theincome, population size, and living conditions ofvillagers in addition to setting up a system for stableproject implementation.
