Summary:The eligibility criteria also included lack of corticosteroid (inhaled or oral) for one month prior to the study and withholding of oral beta-agonists, long-acting anticholinergic agents, and anti-IgE medications for at least 72 hours. Exclusion criteria included: severe persistent asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, upper respiratory infection within four weeks of screening, chronic antibiotics, or concomitant diseases such as cancer, renal or hepatic dysfunction, cardiac disease, or immunodeficiency.
