Summary:Rationale: Patients who are immunocompromised or receiving therapy for hematologic or solid organ malignancies are at high risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) from both the primary disease and usual or experimental therapies. Early recognition of AKI risk has been associated with the levels of two urinary proteins; tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP2) and insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP-7) that are markers of renal tubular cell injury.
