Summary:Conclusion: The environmental context such as community prevalence of smoking, access to health professionals and pulmonary function labs had little, if any, effect on incidence of COPD and all-cause mortality in the asthma population. Focusing on barriers faced by marginalized population, such as affordable medications, improving sub-standard housing conditions and increasing awareness of health effects of air pollution may be more effective strategies to improve health outcomes for asthma and ACOS patients.
