Summary: | Several scoring systems have been developed for intensive care unit to risk stratify patients and predict mortality .The study aimed to evaluate the predictive ability of the SOFA and APACHE II scoring systems for prognostication and to formulate and evaluate a new scoring system based on the above mentioned scores in patients with sepsis. Materials and methods: 114 patients with a clinical diagnosis of sepsis were enrolled in the prospective, observational study carried out over one year period in a teaching hospital in New Delhi, India. |
