Summary:During the 1993-94 school year, censorship attempts reached an all- time high, according to People for the American Way. Nearly half of the attempts the group reported resulted in the removal or restriction of materials. The Commission on Intellectual Freedom, within the Conference on English Education of the National Council of Teachers of English, has been examining and making recommendations regarding the effects of censorship attempts on the English curriculum for years.
