Summary:In this study, the impact of the financial development on unemployment in Turkey economy has been investigated empirically by using monthly data from the period of 2006-2015. Domestic credit volume was selected as financial development index and the effect to unemployment of this indicator was estimated with ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model) analysis. The relationship between financial growth and unemployment series was investigated by limit test due to the fact that they have different degree of stability (I(0) and I(1)) and co-integration relationship between the series have been identified in the long term based on this test. According to the results of ARDL model, while financial development has a reducing effect on unemplo yment in the short term, a significant effect in the long term could not be achieved.
