Summary:An abstract of an article by Katcher estimating the impact on the rate of adolescent pregnancy of a regulatory change allowing for the sale of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) over the counter (OTC) is presented. OTC access to OCPs has the potential to significantly increase use of contraception among adolescents and decrease the rate of adolescent pregnancy in the US and should be pursued as a strategy to expand contraceptive access.
