Description
Summary:In 2015 researchers at Texas A&M University were funded by the Office of Adolescent Health to administer the Innovative Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Program (iTP3) project, which funded 15 sub-recipients nationwide to develop an innovative teenage pregnancy prevention (TPP) program. By the end of this initiative, iTP3 will accomplish two goals, including to establish an infrastructure for sustainability and to create a portfolio of innovative teen pregnancy prevention (TPP) programs for populations with the greatest need. This presentation will highlight innovator profiles and measures related to their organizational capacity to disseminate innovations into practice. Baseline measures were inventoried, with performance measures focusing on innovator demographic information, innovator partnerships, training activities, dissemination activities, and assessment activities. Surveys, interviews, and monthly check-in calls were conducted by the iTP3 project team to track the organizational profiles on a monthly basis and understand how they changed over time. The iTP3 Project at Texas A&M is currently working with 15 implementing organizations, referred to as innovators, who received funding on May 1, 2016. Innovators were serving 15 different states and creating programs for 10 different setting types. Twelve of the 15 innovators engaged in partnerships with outside organizations; 23 formal partners, or organizations with a written agreement, were engaged; informal partners, or organizations involved in implementation without a formal agreement in place, were engaged in year 1 activities. Partners collaborated with innovators in a variety of different roles including advisors, dissemination partners, evaluators, implementation partners, planning partners, and participant recruiters. Three innovators conducted a total of 4 different training activities in the 2 month reporting period of year 1. Three of the 15 innovators had already started dissemination activities for their projects while two innovators had conducted assessment activities including 1 needs assessment survey and 3 meetings with an organizational community advisory group. he iTP3 project is utilizing an advanced model for supporting and developing innovations in adolescent health and teen pregnancy prevention. The insight from our grantee profiles and on innovation initiatives can applied across a wide range of settings to advance the development and planning of health behavior programs. Our team
