Description
Summary:An abstract of a study by Isaacson et al reporting the psychometric properties of the Comfort with Communication in Palliative and End-of-Life Care (C-COPE) instrument among rural and urban nurses is presented. The C-COPE demonstrated satisfactory content validity, internal consistency, and stability in measuring nurse comfort with palliative and EOL communication. The four factor structure suggests relevant communication foci necessary to assess nurse communication competence. Testing of this instrument is recommended in a larger more diverse sample.
