Summary:Secretary of the Norwich division of the BMA for many years, he also served as secretary of the Norfolk and Norwich Benevolent Medical Society and was an active Rotarian and member of a Probus club. In retirement he and a fellow consultant tried over many years to persuade several groups to convert the Bethel Hospital, a mental asylum, founded by Mary Chapman in 1713, into a secure retirement home when it became surplus to NHS requirements.
