Description
Summary:Dixon discusses how the lack of prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries demonstrates a glaring deficit in the US healthcare system. Medicare beneficiaries--the elderly, disabled, patients with end-stage renal disease--are the least likely group to be able to pay out of pocket for prescriptions due to their limited, fixed income. This group represents 13.9 percent of the US population and accounts for one-third of all pharmaceutical expenditures.
