Description
Summary:Since the rise of commercial cinema in the early 20th century, this calculated seduction of the senses has generated diverse neo-baroque stylistic phenomena, such as Spanish Colonial, a revival that forms part of postmodern excess. Focusing on his own practise as designer and researcher he contextualizes the recent development of computational tools, digital fabrication technologies and simulation methods in architecture as a cultural catalyst that has altered aesthetics and design in present-day society. Since 2007 he has been a member of the research group Transcultural and Transhistoric Efficiencies of the Baroque Paradigm, part of the project The Hispanic Baroque: Complexity in the First Atlantic Culture, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
