Summary: | The Wood County Alternative School Program was studied to determine overall effectiveness as perceived by students, parents, probation officers, and school administrators. A qualitative research design utilizing a structured interview of students assigned to the Wood County Alternative School during the Spring Semester, 1997, was conducted. Parents, probation officers (assigned to the alternative school student), and administrators also provided data for this study. The results indicated that the alternative school has been perceived to be generally effective by the subjects identified in this study. Specific analysis has been provided that includes focus on (a) general perceptions of the Wood County Alternative School Program, (b) communication patterns, (c) perceptions of academic performance, (d) pre and post behavioral observations, and (e) progress toward graduation. |
