Description
Summary:Outline of the day After introducing pupils to the project and explaining a few ground rules, everyone got straight onto the first task - 'What are earthquakes?' We displayed a few images on the whiteboard to stimulate the pupils' imagination (but not to give anything away!) and they had to write down the first 10 words or phrases they thought of when they heard the word 'earthquake'. Pupils worked in groups to study images showing the range of impacts earthquakes could have, from the human cost in death and injury, through damage to buildings and infrastructure, to job losses and other economic problems. [...]we showed an image of a person standing in a street staring at a scene of devastation, with people escaping from collapsed buildings.
