Description
Summary:The long-term risk to a business in the event that alliance partners gain access to and actively use its core knowledge in a competitive challenge is discussed. A firm must decide what parts of the company's knowledge must remain within its own private domain, as well as how to ensure that it is actually protected. There is also the danger of inadvertent or indirect sharing of knowledge and capabilities. Effective protection has less to do with restricting actions or carefully prescribing punishment than with educating the employees who are to interact with the alliance partner(s).
