“Slash and burn” doesn't kill weeds: Other ways to downsize the manufacturing organization

Companies that used downsizing of employees to reduce costs, but did not analyzed total operations and ways to make these more efficient will likely not experience significant cost reductions in time. The efforts of several companies to improve production and structure before layoffs are analyzed.
