Summary: | Several advisory board paid tribute to the Journal of Portfolio Management's founding editor, Peter L. Bernstein. Paul A. Samuelson, MIT, said Peter managed the impossible -- he distrusted active high-turnover, high-load and high-expense charges, but at the same time he nominated and measured new descriptive dynamic trends. H. Russell Fogler, Fogler Research and Management, describes Peter as a true intellectual. Bruce I. Jacobs, Jacobs Levy Equity Management Inc, said that in Peter's work as editor and as author, he consistently exhibited the rare talent of being able to recognize innovative perspectives on the age-old art of investing. Andrew W. Lo, MIT, said Peter's impact on academic finance has been equally significant through his books, Capital Ideas and Against the Gods. What Laurence B. Siegel, The Ford Foundation, found most captivating about Peter's writing and speaking was his ability to make the link between theory and practice in financial economics come alive. |
