Summary: | While partnerships and coalitions between industry, government and environmental groups appear to be toning down the more extreme environmentalist tactics used in the past, the astute public relations counselor should always anticipate that opposition might occur in any public forum. Before facing any audience, a spokesperson should both anticipate and prepare. In early discussions with clients, answering several key questions provides enough input to determine what can be achieved in the communications effort. The questions include: 1. Based upon the message in the speech as it now stands, how might people in the audience respond? 2. Will the proposed approach be effective with the intended target audience? 3. How strong is the case or argument being proposed? |
