Summary:According to preliminary experiments and anatomical observation, essential substances were determined since 12 d post egg development under diapause conditions and since 4 d post egg development under non-diapause conditions, respectively.The protein content in non-diapause stage was higher in E. civilis Rondani before entering diapause stage, and reached the maximum value of 78.34 |ig/mg in pupal stage; the maximum value of protein content in diapause stage was 72.95 pg/mg. 2.4 Changes in glycerin cantent, of E. civilis Rondani in diapause stage and non-diapause stage The glycerin content of E. civilis Rondani in diapause stage was always higher than that in non-diapause stage throughout the whole development process except pupal stage, and the difference was significant ( Fig. 4).[...]the conditions of diapause could induce the glycerin content of E. civili-, Rondani, which were advantageous to the development towards diapause.According to this standard, the variation uf essential substance contents in diapause and non-diapause conditions is also a process from quantitative change to qualitative change.According to the content of several essential substances in E. civilis Rondani in diapause stage, the glycogen content was the highest, significantly higher than the content of other several materials.[...]glycogen plays an important role in overwintering and cold resistance of E. civilis Rondani.
