Summary: | A different approach to business ethics is recommended. The first step is to identify the basic assumptions, principles, and objectives of business itself as a valid, sui generis enterprise; and, from that perspective, identify the ethics of business. Religion, philosophy and law are not excluded from that methodology. They provide the tools needed for this kind of analysis and also provide important criteria for self-criticism. The approach defines business ethics as originating in business theory and practice. Ethics for business is expressed in the language of business. These objectives are accomplished within a context which appreciates business as a corporate enterprise which values profit. |
