Summary: | This paper presents an audit of 22 years of bone banking at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, along with a review of the current literature regarding the use of allograft bone. Comparisons both locally and internationally are made, and we are confident that standards in Australia are equivalent to those internationally. The requirement for bone graft material in Australia is likely to rise, as more reconstructive and revision surgery is undertaken, along with increases in primary arthroplasty procedures.
