Summary: | The first two authors gave lectures for teacher students in an Estonian university during the 2000 fall semester. In this report they describe what they learned in Estonia about elementary and secondary education. An exchange programme was started and two Estonian student groups with a professor visited the American college and took part in instruction in public schools. The article analyzes "in a comparative perspective what [these] students experienced in the United States and highlights the moments that seem to be totally different in the educational reality of the two countries."
