Summary: | Robert G Newman rnewman@icaat.org International Center for Advancement of Addiction Treatment, Baron Edmond de Rothschild Chemical Dependency Institute of Beth Israel Medical Center, Continuum Health Partners, 555 West 57th Street, 18th Floor, New York, NY 10019, USA 1 Schottenfeld RS, Chawarski MC, Mazlan M. Maintenance treatment with buprenorphine and naltrexone for heroin dependence in Malaysia: a randomised, double-blind, pi acebo-controlled trial. The study findings of greater efficacy of buprenorphine compared with naltrexone or drug counselling only counter the mistaken beliefs, still informing public policy in some countries, that OMT is not needed and that it is sufficient to provide drug counselling alone or with naltrexone for treating heroin addiction. |
